Professional networking for career advancement of academic librarians

Abstract

This purpose of this paper is to explore professional networking for career advancement of librarians in academic libraries. Career advancement as a means of preparing to qualify for official promotions with the current employer or a different employer, preparing for more responsibility and compensation by advancing in a formal career, obtaining industry recognized credentials that results in additional responsibility, it is also associated with an increase in income or benefits.
