Etude comparée de l’âge et de la croissance du dipneuste africain <i>Protopterus annectens</i> (Owen 1839, Protopteridea) en état d’hibernation et de non hibernation au Burkina Faso

Abstract

Protopterus annectens a fait l’objet de très peu d’études au Burkina Faso. Pourtant, cette espèce est très bien connue des populations locales grâce à sa faculté d’hibernation au niveau des berges des plans d’eau. C’est dans le but de palier à ce gap d’informations que cette étude a été menée sur l’âge et la croissance de cette espèce pendant ces deux états écologiques différents à savoir en état d’hibernation et de non hibernation. Pendant la même période, deux sites ont été choisis pour cette étude. Il s’agit de la retenue d’eau du barrage n⁰3 de Ouagadougou où l’espèce hibernait et celle du barrage de Boura ou elle vivait librement dans l’eau. Ainsi les travaux de scalimétrie ont montré que les individus en hibernation au barrage n⁰3 de Ouagadougou étaient âgés de 1 à 3 ans tandis que ceux du barrage de Boura, de 1 à 2 ans. L’étude a aussi montré que l’espèce a une croissance isométrique dans le barrage n°3 de Ouagadougou et une croissance allométrique négative dans le barrage de Boura. Les paramètres de croissance et d’exploitation estimés à l’aide de l’équation de Von Bertalanffy indiquent au barrage urbain n°3 de Ouagadougou, L_∞= 71,620 cm, K=0,37 an^-1, t₀= -0,12 ans et au barrage de Boura, L_∞= 58,011cm, K=0,99 an^-1, t₀= -0,001 ans. La mortalité totale (Z) et le taux d’exploitation (E) sont respectivement de 3,25 an^-1 et 0,56 au barrage de Boura, d’où une surexploitation de l’espèce au niveau du barrage de Boura.

English Title: Comparative study of the age and growth of the African lungfish Protopterus annectens (Owen 1839, Protopteridea) in hibernation and non-hibernation in Burkina Faso

English Abstract

The African lungfish Protopterus annectens was not for a long run under the scope of research in Burkina Faso. However, in the local communities, it is a very well-known species due to its ability to hibernate. In order to overcome this gap of information regarding the species ability, hibernation and non-hibernation. The investigations were conducted in two research sites that are: urban dam n⁰ 3 of Ouagadougou where the species hibernated and Boura dam where it lived freely in the water. The results of the scalimetry method showed that the ages ranged from 1-3 then 1-2 years old respectively at the selected Ouagadougou dam and the  Boura dam. In addition, the study reportedthat the species has an isometric growth in urban dam n⁰ 3 of Ouagadougou and a negative allometric growth in the Boura dam. The estimated growth and exploitation parameters using the Von Bertalanffy equation indicate at urban dam n⁰ 3 of Ouagadougou, L_∞ = 71.620 cm, K = 0.37 year^-1, t₀ = -0.12 years. At the Boura dam, these parameters were as follows: L_∞ = 58.011cm, K = 0.99 year^-1, t₀ = -0.001 years. The total mortality (Z) and the exploitation rate (E) are respectively 3.25 year-1 and 0.56 at the Boura dam, resulting in overexploitation of the species at the Boura dam.
