Longitudinal and transverse modes dispersion in two-dimensional Yukawa fluids

Abstract

The dynamical properties of two-dimensional Yukawa fluids in the domain of weak and intermediate coupling parameters were analyzed through molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. The dispersion relation for both the longitudinal and transverse modes were obtained and compared with random phase approximation (RPA) and harmonic phonons in triangular lattice. A simple interpolation formula was proposed for the longitudinal mode dispersion and it reproduced or resulted in some acceptable errors in the domain of Yukawa parameters considered in this work.
