Abstract

The profitability of marketing of the seed of Treculia Africana was examined. The study was carried out in Ibadan metropolis. A multi-stage sampling technique was used in data collection. The first is the random selection of 10 major food markets in Ibadan metropolis. The second stage involved the selection of Ibo food sellers because Treculia is sold mainly by the Ibo food sellers. The next stage is the random selection of ten respondents from each market. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse the socio-economic characteristic of the sampled sellers while budgetary techniques were used to estimate cost and return structure, profitability index and gross margin. Results show that the capital turn over is 3.48. This implies that this venture is profitable. Profitability index stood at 0.7 which indicates that out of every N1.00 earned as revenue about 70k was returned to the traders as net income. This has a positive implication on traders\' economics status.
