Abstract

The work presented in this paper is on the conceptual design and fabrication of a dual powered self-cleaning marker board. The objective here in is to reduce the man-power involved in the use of marker boards and to eliminate the physical cleaning action. The AutoCAD software was used for the detailed engineering drawing, after which the detailed design analyses, calculations and fabrication were carried out. The self-cleaning board wasdesigned to be powered electrically by a single phase 0.675 HP electric motor. The belt drive parameters were determined based on estimations of the center distance between the pulleys, the required cleaning time, number of sweeps, total number of belt links and the expected performance. The cleaning efficiency of the auto-white board cleaner is expected to be better than the manual operation when the equipment is fully completed.
