Influence of social media on Ghanaian youths: Implications for counselling
Social media platforms have become essential tools for the promotion of social interactions among youths. Platforms such as facebook, Whatsapp, 2go, and Twitter have several benefits but misuse of the platforms could be a source of danger. This paper therefore, highlights the nature of social media, uses of social media in Ghana, theoretical framework on social interactions and influence of social media on Ghanaian youths. It also identifies various ways by which counsellors could intervene to assist youths to make effective use of social media and avoid the negative tendencies associated with the network.
