Making theory - practice connection is one of the most difficult aspects of teacher training. Student teachers are usually at a loss as to how to apply the psychological and philosophical theories they have learnt during lectures to their teaching practices. Many experienced teachers also have similar difficulties. Many resort to the use of punishment for dealing with -pupils\' misbehaviour. This article provides a practical guide on how tp use positive reinforcement through behaviour modification technique for classroom management and control. Its concept and process as well as its relevance to learning are presented as a more acceptable alternative to the use of punishment.
