Numerical analysis of inter-phase mass transfer with chemical reaction
The numerical analysis in the present study simulates inter-phase mass transfer with chemical reaction of two immiscible liquids by simultaneously solving the Higbie Penetration model. The transport equations are solved numerically for concentration and temperature profiles at the inter-phase using finite volume method (FVM) for diffusion, and convection diffusion equations with and without chemical reaction.. The simulation results are validated using experimental data reported in the literature  for Cyclohexane - Acetic acid - Water system. The concentration variation along the horizontal direction is smaller compared to vertical direction.
