Vulva injury inflicted by an intimate partner: A case report

Abstract

Background: Gender based violence is found in all races, ethnicities, social and economic status. Violence by an intimate partner is one of the most common forms of violence against women.
Method: This is a case of a single mother who had vulva injury inflicted on her by a man who is the father of her child. However, both of them are not married and she lives with her parents. She hid the injury from every one and bled torrentially that she collapsed at home and was brought to the hospital in a state of shock.
Conclusion: Most victims of intimate partner violence do not report such violence and usually present late at a health facility.
