An abstract should be written at the beginning of the article. This should be typed on a separate page and is not to exceed 200 words. The abstract should be a concise but comprehensive statement of the aim of study, material and methods, results and conclusions. An Arabic summary should be included at the end of the article. N.B. Articles written completely in Arabic language are allowed but an English summary must be included. Photographs and photomicrographs should be printed on glossary paper. They should be clear and unmounted. Captions to the illustrations should be typed on a separate sheet. Drawing and diagrams should be done boldly in black ink. These should be numbered, the top should be indicated and the authors name, written on the back. Long tables should be avoided and preferably replaced by graphs. References in the text are to be arranged to the Harvard system. i.e. author's name followed by the date in brackets. The list of reference are to be typed in alphabetical order as follows : For Journals; Author's name, followed by initials and years of publication in brackets, the title to the article, the name of journal, the volume, number in numerals, followed by numbers of first and last pages of article. Example : ALSENBERG, A.C. (1962) : Studies delayed hypersensitivity in Hodgkin disease. J. Clin. Invest.; 41: 100 – 110. For books; Author's name, year of publication in brackets, title of the book, editions, publisher and town, pages as specific reference. Example : Brusick, D. (1980) : Principles of Genetic Toxicology, 2nd ed., Plenum Press. New York and London. PP. 109-135. Publication Charages : A basic Charge of L.E/100 will be made to cover expenses of Publications, and the supply of 30 reprints to the senior author, of a Papers article. The Journal Publishes : 1. “Original papers” in all aspects of medicine in general with emphasis. On specific problems of interest to African and Mediterranean countries. 2. “Review of recent developments in medicine. 3. “Short Communications” giving a brief but complete account of the piece of work. 4. “Letters to the Editor” giving brief remarks, comments upon material previously or simultaneously published in the Journal, prepublication notes and outlines of work in-progress. 5. “Questions and Answers”, Readers are invited to send questions relevant scope of the Journal. These will be sent to experts. The answer will be either sent to the reader or will be published alone with question. 6. “Case-report” giving a full account of interesting or report cases. 7. “Summaries of International, Regional or National Meeting” in relevant subjects. The Journal may also publish “Supplements” giving the proceedings of such meetings. 8. “Book Reviews”. 9. “Announcements” of international, Regional or National meetings and other relevant events.
