Africa Habitat Review (AHR) is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary academic journal published by the Faculty of the Built Environment and Design at the University of Nairobi. The journal provides a scholarly platform for the dissemination of original research, reviews, and practice-oriented studies addressing human settlements and the built environment in Africa and comparable Global South contexts.
AHR focuses on architecture, urban and regional planning, housing, construction management, construction projects landscape architecture, infrastructure development, environmental design, heritage and conservation, and related socio-economic and technological dimensions of habitat development. Particular emphasis is placed on African contexts, indigenous knowledge systems, climate-responsive design, sustainability, urbanisation, and policy-relevant research that informs planning, design, and construction practice.
The journal welcomes contributions from academics, researchers, practitioners, and postgraduate scholars, encouraging dialogue between theory, practice, and policy. Published works include empirical studies, conceptual papers, methodological contributions, and case studies that advance knowledge and address contemporary challenges in the built environment.

Aims and Scope
Africa Habitat Review (AHR) aims to advance scholarly research and critical discourse on human settlements and the built environment, with a primary focus on Africa and comparable Global South contexts. The journal publishes peer-reviewed work that informs theory, policy, and professional practice in habitat planning, design, construction, and management.
Its scope covers architecture, urban and regional planning, housing, construction management, landscape architecture, infrastructure development, environmental design, heritage and conservation, and building technology.
