ChemClass Journal is a quarterly peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), Zaria Chapter. The Journal provides a platform for the dissemination of original research articles, review papers, technical reports, and scholarly contributions that advance knowledge and innovation across chemistry and related disciplines.
The Journal covers a broad spectrum of chemical sciences, including pure and applied chemistry, industrial chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, polymer science, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, environmental studies, soil science, chemical science education, and other interdisciplinary areas where chemistry contributes to scientific and technological advancement.
ChemClass Journal is committed to promoting high-quality scholarly communication through rigorous double-blind peer review, ethical publishing practices, and transparent editorial processes. The Journal aims to support researchers, academics, professionals, educators, and industry practitioners by providing a credible platform for sharing scientific discoveries, emerging technologies, and solutions to contemporary challenges.
Published four times annually in March, June, September, and December, ChemClass Journal contributes to the advancement of chemical sciences and promotes the role of chemistry in innovation, industrial development, environmental sustainability, and societal progress.
Aims and Scope
ChemClass Journal is committed to advancing the frontiers of knowledge in chemical sciences and related interdisciplinary fields through the publication of high-quality, peer-reviewed research. The Journal aims to serve as a reputable platform for the dissemination of original scientific contributions that deepen understanding, foster innovation, and support the application of chemistry for industrial, environmental, technological, educational, and societal development.
Primary Aim: The primary aim of ChemClass Journal is to promote excellence in chemical sciences research by providing an accessible and internationally visible outlet for scholars, researchers, educators, and industry professionals to publish impactful findings. The Journal seeks to strengthen the integration of theoretical knowledge and practical application, thereby contributing to scientific advancement, technological innovation, and sustainable development in Nigeria, Africa, and the global scientific community.
ChemClass Journal publishes scholarly works that address fundamental, applied, and emerging aspects of chemistry and related disciplines. The Journal provides a multidisciplinary platform for research that bridges chemistry with other fields of science, engineering, agriculture, health sciences, and environmental studies. It encourages submissions that demonstrate originality, methodological rigour, and clear scientific relevance.
The scope of ChemClass Journal encompasses, but is not limited to, the following areas of chemical and related sciences.
Chemistry and core chemical disciplines, including organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, theoretical chemistry, computational chemistry, and green chemistry, are the Journal's primary focus. Research in these areas may include synthesis, reaction mechanisms, molecular characterisation, spectroscopic analysis, chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, and advanced analytical methodologies.
Industrial chemistry and chemical engineering are also central to the Journal’s scope, particularly studies that explore process development, catalysis, materials processing, reaction engineering, process optimisation, scale-up technologies, and industrial applications of chemical principles in manufacturing, energy, and resource utilisation.
The Journal further welcomes contributions to materials science and polymer science, including the design, synthesis, characterisation, and application of advanced materials, nanomaterials, composites, biomaterials, and functional polymers relevant to industry, medicine, and environmental sustainability.
In recognition of the interdisciplinary nature of modern chemical sciences, ChemClass Journal actively encourages submissions in biochemistry and molecular sciences, particularly studies exploring biochemical pathways, enzymology, biomolecular interactions, metabolic processes, and the chemical basis of biological systems.
Pharmaceutical sciences and medicinal chemistry are also within the Journal’s scope, particularly research focused on drug design, drug synthesis, pharmacological evaluation, structure–activity relationships, and the development of novel therapeutic agents.
Environmental chemistry and environmental sciences constitute significant areas of interest, encompassing research on pollution monitoring, environmental remediation, toxicology, climate-related chemical processes, water and soil chemistry, waste management, and sustainable environmental practices.
The Journal also embraces soil science and agricultural chemistry, including studies on soil fertility, nutrient cycling, agrochemical applications, plant–soil interactions, and chemical approaches to improving agricultural productivity and food security.
ChemClass Journal recognises the importance of chemical science education and, therefore, welcomes research on pedagogical approaches, curriculum development, laboratory instruction, teaching innovations, and the integration of chemistry education with modern scientific tools and technologies.
Interdisciplinary and emerging areas of chemical sciences are strongly encouraged, particularly studies that integrate chemistry with biotechnology, nanotechnology, environmental engineering, forensic science, food science, public health, and computational modelling. The Journal particularly values research that demonstrates cross-disciplinary relevance and addresses real-world challenges.
While ChemClass Journal maintains a broad and inclusive scientific scope, all submitted manuscripts must demonstrate clear relevance to chemical sciences or chemically related disciplines. Submissions that fall outside the scientific domain of chemistry or lack a strong chemical or chemical-technology component may be declined without external review.
Within this defined scope, ChemClass Journal seeks to maintain a balance between disciplinary depth and interdisciplinary innovation, ensuring that published works contribute meaningfully to advancing knowledge and solving contemporary scientific and societal challenges.
The Journal remains committed to publishing work that is scientifically rigorous, ethically conducted, methodologically sound, and of international relevance, thereby supporting its long-term goal of achieving visibility and recognition in major global indexing databases.
