Factors inhibiting music technological devices to the Ethos and Pathos in music education in tertiary institutions in Delta State

Abstract

The focus of this study is music technological devices. Some tertiary institutions in Nigeria have embraced music technological devices to music education whereas some tertiary institutions are yet utilize it. The paper aims at investigating the militating factors against effective use of music technological devices to the study of music education in tertiary institutions in Delta State and to proffer some possible solutions. This study hinges on a survey and empirical studies for its methodology. It is observed that majority of the tertiary institutions are backward technologically in relation to music education. The paper concluded that the role and impact of music technology are pivotal to the development and advancement of music education in Delta State and recommends that music technological devices be utilized in tertiary institutions in Delta State for students’ all round development and proficiency in this regard. In absence of the governments’ assistance, it is of vital importance and urgency that music educators seek for funds from the corporate sectors who take kin interest in supporting education; to acquire the needful such as music technological equipment, facilities and others, and to sponsor programmes to acquire the appropriate knowledge and skills for the furtherance and functionality of music technology education in Nigeria.
