Assessment of Google Classroom Awareness in Enhancing Learning Experience among Students of Science and Technology Education of ADUSTECH, Wudil Kano State

Abstract

This study explored the awareness of Google Classroom in enhancing students' learning experiences in the technology and vocational education department. The objectives include exploring the usage and understanding of Google Classroom among students in TVE, investigating the perceived usefulness of Google Classroom among students of TVE, and examining the perceived benefits and challenges of Google Classroom among students of TVE. Survey design was employed for the study. The total sample size for this study was 360. The sampling technique used was stratified random sampling. The instrument used was a survey questionnaire adapted from similar studies and was reviewed to fit the specific research objectives requirements in this study. Also, a reliability test was conducted using Cronbach's alpha, where the result showed that the instrument has excellent reliability with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.878; this indicated that the instrument is suitable for the study. Descriptive statistics was used to analyse the research questions, while Pearson correlation and multiple regressions were used to test the hypotheses. The findings are that Students generally have positive perceptions of Google Classroom by using it frequently. Also, Students perceive Google Classroom as effective in enhancing their learning performance and engagement. In addition, the Students perceived Google Classroom as highly beneficial for their learning and also very challenging, as it encompasses so many tools and functions. Finally, it was found that Students desire moderate changes and improvements in Google Classroom. Finally, it was recommended that there is a need to emphasise the use of Google Classroom features, provide additional training and support to help students and teaching staff explore and utilise the benefits of using Google Classroom, and Encourage instructors to design engaging lessons and activities that utilise Google.
