Abstract
This Study Assessed Teachers’ Perception on the Application of Total Quality Management (TQM) In School Administration Among Principals of Public Senior Secondary Schools in Bauchi State. Two Research Questions and Two Hypotheses Guided the Study. A Questionnaire Titled “Total Quality Management in Senior Secondary School Administration Questionnaire” (TQMSSAQ) Was Used for Data Collection. The Reliability of the Instrument Was Determined Through Trial Testing On 122 Respondents in Bauchi State and The Data Collected Were Tested Using Cronbach Alpha Statistics, Which Gave an Overall Coefficient of R = 0.99. The Population of the Study Comprised 6,110 Teachers of All the Public Senior Secondary Schools in Bauchi State. Using A Simple Random Sampling Technique, A Sample Size of 1,222 Respondents (20% Of The Population as Recommended by Blalock, 1981) Was Selected. The Research Questions Were Analyzed Using Mean Scores and Standard Deviation While the Hypotheses Were Tested Using T-Test at A 0.05 Level of Significance. An Overview of the Results of the Study Revealed That the Respondents (Male and Female, Experienced and Inexperienced Teachers) Believed That There Is a Low Application of Total Quality Management in Terms of Total Commitment to Quality and Continuous Quality Improvement in Secondary School Administration Among Principals of Public Senior Secondary Schools in Bauchi State. It Was Recommended That Principals Be Made to Imbibe the Culture of Total Quality Management (TQM) In Terms of Total Commitment to Quality as Well as Accept Responsibility for and Be Committed to Continuous Quality Improvement Through Seminars, Workshops and Conferences, Among Others.
