Assessment of Principals’ Managerial Competency and Its Impact on Senior Secondary Schools Academic Activities in Katsina Zonal Education Quality Assurance, Katsina State, Nigeria
Abstract
The study was on Assessment of Principals' Managerial Competency and Its Impact on Public Senior Secondary Schools Academic Activities Katsina Zonal Education Quality Assurance, Katsina State, Nigeria. The objectives include assessing the principals' managerial competency on instructional supervision in senior secondary schools in Katsina Zonal Education Quality Assurance, Katsina State, Nigeria, and assessing the principals' managerial competency on co-curricular activities in senior secondary schools in Katsina Zonal Education Quality Assurance, Katsina State, Nigeria. Two (2) research questions and research hypotheses are line with the objectives that guided the study. The research design adopted was a descriptive survey. The population of the study was 1500. The sample size of the study was 306. The instrument used for data collection was a Questionnaire tittled; "Principals` Managerial Competency and Its Impact on Public Senior Secondary Schools Academic Activities Questionnaire (PMCQ)". The questionnaire was made up of five sections, A to E, based on a four (4) point Likert scale. A stratified sampling technique was used in which the respondents are classified into 3 strata based on their homogeneity. The statistical tools that were used for data analysis for the research were inferential statistics using Anova in order to test hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The finding of the research showed that; The result of the study revealed that. The principals’ managerial competency in senior secondary schools’ instructional supervision and co-curricular activities in Katsina Zonal Education Quality Assurance, Katsina State, Nigeria, is good. It was recommended that Regular training sessions should be organised by the Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education to improve principals' supervisory skills, focusing on effective instructional strategies and the latest educational practices and Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education should continue to provide adequate facilities and ensure that principals are trained in effective resource management to allocate appropriate funding and materials for co-curricular activities.
